Inspiring classmates, school staff, and the community, Cologne Academy's H.O.P.E. Club (Helping Others and Promoting Empathy) has big plans and has already shown impactful results.
Founded by 8th grader Abby O'Boyle and supported by staff member Megan Ashpole, the club gives students a voice and a way to serve their community. In its first year, the club has already drawn over 60 members out of 272 students. "We kind of find joy in helping others, and like it helps students be selfless and try to make others be selfless, too," O'Boyle said. The H.O.P.E. Club is quickly becoming a source of inspiration, showing how young leaders can make a meaningful difference in their school and community.
So far, the club has collected over 2,000 pairs of socks for those in need, donated food to the local food shelf, created thank you cards for local veterans and is planning a volunteer event with Feed My Starving Children.
