Cologne Academy's "PeaceKeepers" empowers fourth-grade students with conflict resolution training, enabling then to mediate disputes among younger peers. This student-led initiative promotes inclusivity, communication, and problem-solving, and has led to a noticeable decrease in behavior referrals.
On May 6, 2025, Cologne Academy was recognized with a Minnesota Promising Practices Award for its "PeaceKeepers" program. Promising Practices are unique and successful practices created and implemented by schools, districts and youth-serving organizations that promote character development in Pre-K to grade 12 students.
The Character Recognition Awards are held each year to spotlight character and ethical leadership development, honor schools and community programs with exemplary efforts, motivate honorees for continued effort and success, and inspire others with examples to follow.
