« Show all NewstERAbytes Robotics Team Competes At World Competition

The tERAbytes, from Eagle Ridge Academy, have been competing as a robotics team for nine seasons through the FIRST®Robotics Programs. FIRST® robotics programs deliver hands-on STEM education to schools, afterschool programs, and community learning spaces. Each program offers fun, age-appropriate challenges tied to a yearly theme to help build STEM interest and adaptable skills, preparing students for STEM careers and leadership in a tech-driven world. This year, The tERAbytes were a Regional Winner at the Minnesota Granite City Regionals (April 2-5, 2025) and earned a chance to compete at the FIRST® Championship just ten days later (April 16-19, 2025) in Houston, Texas. In addition to preparing to travel, the team made swift and ambitious upgrades to their robot. These upgrades were thwarted by technical issues and the team's battle strategy was quickly revised to take a more defensive approach throughout the competition events.
Although the tERAbytes did not place as high as they hoped for, the team members (75% underclassmen) spoke very highly of their season, the journey, new skills learned, and have already set in motion a plan to be even better next season. Their coach, Jeff Anderson, said "Our students stood shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best robotics teams in the world, and they didn't flinch".
tERAbytes 2025 Awards include Regional Winner and Gracious Professionalism Award at the Minnesota Granite City Regional event. The tERAbyates are registered to compete in the 2026 season. In addition to the FIRST® robotics programs, the tERAbytes compete in the Minnesota State High School League events.
Congratulations to the students, the coach, and all the fabulous supporters for making this opportunity possible. Best of Luck in the future!!
