Cologne Academy's "Community Circles" program is one part of a larger school-wide focus on character education. As part of Cologne Academy's mission and vision, character education is two-fold: building character and addressing the social-emotional domain. These ideas are woven throughout each day in the way individuals in the community treat themselves, each other, and the school.
On May 22, 2024, Cologne Academy was recognized with a Minnesota Promising Practices Award for its "Community Circles" program. Promising Practices are unique and successful practices created and implemented by schools, districts and youth-serving organizations that promote character development in Pre-K to grade 12 students.
The Character Recognition Awards are hosted each year, by Synergy & Leadership Exchange, to spotlight character and ethical leadership development, honor schools and community programs with exemplary efforts, motivate honorees for continued effort and success, and inspire others with examples to follow.
